All School Leadership (ASL) Program
From 4 – 8 May 2015, Kareem and I participated in a leadership program run by the Monash Youth and Family Services. The program run by two experienced youth workers, Karen and Shelly at the Clayton Community Centre, was a great experience for both of us. It was set to create or develop the ability to lead others by example and to develop knowledge and to understand how to deal with certain social problems.
On the first day we were both tested on our ability to lead and how to deal with different scenarios. For the rest of the week we learnt various ways in which we could help people within certain situations. Some of these included how to deal with mental health and domestic problems. As well as participating in a leadership program we were also able to develop friendships that will last a lifetime.
We were both very proud to be selected to partake in this opportunity that will help us later in life. Walking out of the week-long program we both truly believe that we could not only use our leadership skills but also be able to help others with their skills and be ready for any challenges we may face.
