Biology Excursion

On Tuesday 25 July, 49 students studying Units 3 and 4 Biology attended Melbourne University on an excursion. They have been looking at different genetic manipulation techniques, and were given the opportunity to have a hands on experience in the university laboratories. They undertook a number of experiments, looking at how genes are inserted into bacteria and how DNA can be analysed. They also observed the genetic characteristics of flies. The students had a bit of a taster of their possible future university science studies, and took a lot away from their experiences there that day.
