As the 2014 school year draws to a close the College Community takes justified pride in the achievements of the past year and is celebrating with all who have contributed to making the journey enjoyable.
On Friday 7 November, Fr Greg Chambers, the current Provincial Leader of the Australia-Pacific Province of the Salesians, visited the College with Fr Veclav Klement, the member of the General Council of the Salesians who has responsibility for the Salesian Provinces in South East Asia and Australia. While visiting the Salesian Community was the priority, this was an opportunity to show the developments in the College and the focus on our Salesian spirit as is so clearly evident in the Chapel and the Bosco Plaza.
One major event yet to come in 2014, is the Salesian College Captains Conference which is being hosted here at Chadstone this year. Our College leaders will have the opportunity to show-case the Leadership Programme and the way they exercise their roles with initiative and spirit.
Leading in to 2015 when we celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of St John Bosco, we are preparing to highlight this theme of celebration in all our major events throughout next year. This focus will enable us to consolidate our Salesian identity and give impetus to the dynamic Salesian spirit.
The shackles of exams will soon fall away, the summer holidays will begin and the spirit of Christmas will surround us all. On behalf of the Salesian Community I extend to all in our Salesian College Community best wishes for a Blessed Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
With warm Christmas greetings,
Fr John Papworth S.B.D.
