College Bands play at Dizzy’s Jazz Club
On Tuesday 16 April, in preparation for our upcoming participation in the “Generations in Jazz” National School Bands Competition, both College Stage Bands played their three pieces in public at Dizzy’s Jazz Club in Richmond. Both Bands are comprised of Salesian College students and girls from Santa Maria College, Northcote.
In addition to playing in front of a full house of parents and well-wishers, the students also got to hear Big Band Frequency play four of the six charts. For our students to hear these pieces played by adult musicians straight after they had performed was a great experience.
A huge thank you goes to our Band Leader Mr Daimon Brunton for organising the evening, which was not only a memorable one but an excellent piece of teaching.
Generations in Jazz takes place in Mt Gambier, South Australia from Friday 3 May – Sunday 5 May.
