Fair Trade Easter Raffle
Many of you may be aware that the Term 1 fundraising and awareness campaign is Project Compassion (Caritas Australia). Your sons have been learning about the work of Caritas in RE classes and have already raised over $1,000 through various events including Sports Carnival canteens and Shrove Tuesday.
Caritas Australia’s annual fundraising and awareness raising appeals, bring thousands of Australians in solidarity with the world’s poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity. Running through the six weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion is an extraordinary, ongoing demonstration of the faith, love and generosity of caring supporters, all in the name of justice and peace. It is the lifeblood of Caritas Australia; without it, Caritas could not do the vital work they do.
Project Compassion 2015 carries Jesus’ commitment to feed those who hunger.
When reflecting on this, Pope Francis said: “I invite all of the institutions of the world, the Church, each of us, as one single human family, to give a voice to all of those who suffer silently from hunger, so that this voice becomes a roar which can shake the world’.
With only three weeks left of term we are running a few final activities that will hopefully help us reach our goal of $5,000. We are encouraging families to purchase five raffle tickets at $1 each ($5 in total) for our Easter (Fair Trade) raffle which will be draw our final whole school assembly on Friday 27 March. Boys will receive tickets early next week.
If you would like additional tickets please contact me via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
