Family Week – May 15 to 21, 2017
As you may be aware, during Term 2 we collect items such as warm clothing, blankets, food and toiletries for those families in our local area who are in need this winter. During Family Week last week, we made an even greater effort. Family Week this year focussed on strengthening families and strengthening the community. With this in mind, it is important that we support our St Vinnies appeal this winter. The Catholic Education Office in Melbourne also supported Family Week through their CatholicCare organisation, whose theme this year is ‘Champions for Change – in your family, in your community, in your world’.
Our focus last week was on supporting those families who are vulnerable and marginalised in the Archdiocese. Through campaigns such as this one, we aim to break down the barrier to social inclusion to build a stronger, more resilient society.
During our Oratory classes last week, we encouraged boys to reflect on their own families and how they can take the lead in strengthening relationships. We also encouraged students to take on leadership roles at school and in the local community to support others in strengthening families and strengthening communities.
The Catholic Care website provides further details about Family Week.
I very much look forward to your support of the St Vincent’s Winter Appeal.
If you would like more details about our collection this term, please do not hesitate to contact me at the College at email@example.com or on 9807 2644.
