Father’s Day Mass and Breakfast
Last Friday, boys across all year levels accompanied by their fathers joined together to celebrate an early Father’s Day. The morning began with a touching mass which featured father and son readings, as well as reflections from boys about the value of their dads. The mass was centred on the journey to becoming a man, with fatherhood being the defining feature of this quest. After all, it is only through fatherhood that a male can understand the true nature of his responsibility and influence.
On completion, the boys and their dads shared a breakfast in the hall. This offered the opportunity for fathers and sons alike to socialise amongst themselves regardless of year level. It was a time to move away from the more familiar bloke talk of ‘footy’ and ‘work’ and a chance to reminisce on some of the experiences and memories over the years. The short celebration seemed to be enjoyed by all who attended and it was excellent to see the number of boys that attended with their dads. However, they say behind every great man is a woman, and this seems to be the case once again, without the mums that came in very early to cook the excellent variety of food on offer, the breakfast may not have been possible. Thank you to all those who took the time to help out with the food preparations as well as the boys and the dads who attended.
Happy Father’s Day!
