Hairspray – 2014 College Production

After three packed shows at the Alexander Theatre Monash University, with two performances sold out, the 2014 College Musical is now over. Unlike similar schools our band was made up predominantly of student musicians, giving our boys the opportunity to showcase their musical talents. A huge thank you to Mr Daimon Brunton for conducting the band.

It is a colossal learning curve for our students to embark on a project such as this: Singing, dancing, acting, working with girls. The very nature of being in the cast, band or crew for a theatrical production means that a strong team spirit is quickly formed and then after 6 months it is all over. It is a unique experience in the life of a school.

Such events do not just happen automatically and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff who helped out with driving buses, trucks, supervising rehearsals after school, on weekends and during the holidays. We have been co-producing musicals with Sacred Heart Girls’ College since 2005 and I am very pleased to be part of such a strong working relationship with our sister school.
