Tuesday 15 August was a day of Holy Obligation. On this day, we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption. According to our Catholic Faith, we believe that the Holy Mother, “having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory” (Pope Pius IX). It signals the end of Mary’s life on earth, and marks her return to Heaven to be reunited with Jesus. Mary not only played a significant role in the life of Jesus but also as help and guide to our very own John Bosco. Mary helped John Bosco realise the meaning and importance of his Dream at the age of nine.
To celebrate this feast day, staff and students gathered in their Houses (Annecy, Collinson, Moroney, Savio) to celebrate mass. All four services were prayerful and meaningful, with boys recognising the importance of Mary, not only in the life of Jesus and John Bosco, but also in their lives today. With the assistance of our Senior Leaders, Fr Bertagnolli, Fr Cantamessa, Fr Papworth and Fr Tanti, we were able to celebrate this occasion in our respective Houses, which allowed boys from Year 7 to 12 to mingle and share their faith.
A truly beautiful celebration.
