House Swimming Carnival

The House Swimming Carnival was held on Friday 14 February and what an outstanding success it was! We were blessed with a perfect day of fine weather with warm but not hot temperatures which assisted boys and staff in having a pleasant day. The boys and staff gathered at the College and walked to Oakleigh Pool and this venue allowed students to be closely involved with all the action in the pool and this led to a wonderful atmosphere of peer support and house spirit amongst the boys and staff.

There were a number of outstanding individual performances on the day which showcased boys using their natural gifts as well as numerous examples of sheer determination and willingness to jump in and have a go for the benefit of the House.

Outstanding performances at their Year level were obtained by:

Year 7 – Daniel Huynh, 7A

Year 8 – Elijah Skeggs, 8B

Year 9 – Chris Stamatis, 9F

Year 10- Fabrice Min Fa, 10A1

Year 11 – Gerald Mini Farfan, 11C5

Year 12 – Jackson Trieu, 12M4

The behaviour and attitude of the boys on the day was exemplary and teachers commented favourably on the manner in which they participated and assisted. There was a great sense of pride and satisfaction as the boys gave their all for their house; whether in winning a race or by filling in for one of their mates. This is what we want to encourage and inspire in the boys at Salesian College and it was clearly evident at the Swimming.

The student house leaders from Years 10, 11 and 12 were brilliant both prior to the events and on the day in terms of their organisation, passion and capacity to work hard and they are to be congratulated in setting a new standard for our carnival. The College is also grateful to those parents who were able to be at the pool to cheer on their sons.

The final result was incredibly close and at the time of writing remains provisional with final checks to be put in place and attendance on the day finalised and added.

Provisional Swimming Carnival Results:

1st Annecy – 727

2nd Moroney – 726

3rd Collinson – 690

4th Savio – 659
