Mother’s Day Mass and Breakfast

On Friday 12 May our College community celebrated Mother’s Day with our traditional Mass and Breakfast. This year we broke records, having over 280 people in attendance! Our mass celebrated the beauty of motherhood with a retelling of the story of how Don Bosco’s mother, Mamma Margaret raised him, and the special relationship she shared with him. Father Bertagnolli eloquently spoke in his sermon about the sacrifice that Mary, Mother of Jesus, made for her Son, as well as how all mothers give of themselves for their children, and in our case, their sons. We ended mass with a beautiful reflection, acknowledging all that mums around the world do for their children. Needless to say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the place!

The boys then escorted their mums to the Fr Terence Jennings Centre to share breakfast together, and on the way presented them with a single rose and a blessed Mother Mary medallion. A very special thank you to the Parent’s Association and to Barb Monaghan for the lovely breakfast which was enjoyed by all.

It is these special moments that we spend with our children that fill our hearts with love. As mothers, we understand that we hold our child’s hand for a moment, and their heart for a lifetime.
