Social Justice

This term, each Oratory class has been creating Christmas hampers to donate to a family in need (through St Vincent de Paul) this festive season. The boys have shown their generosity and loving kindness by bringing in items such as Christmas decorations, mince pies, stuffing mix, candy canes, and many other non-perishable food items that will allow families in need to celebrate with their loved ones. They have also written Christmas cards to show our local community that we at Salesian College send our best wishes and support throughout this time.

Staff at the College have been participating in the ‘Share the Dignity’ and ‘VincentCare’ Victoria, campaigns, which will continue until the end of the term. These campaigns help homeless men and women receive essential items and care packages this Christmas. Old handbags or toiletry bags are filled with items such as shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, sanitary items and much more. These are then packaged and given to those sleeping rough this Christmas. We have the power to make life better for any man or woman experiencing homelessness, and through this campaign we endeavour to show those in need that we care and that they matter.

If any parents or students would also like to contribute to the ‘Share the Dignity’ and ‘VincentCare’ campaigns, they are able to donate toiletry items, handbags or toiletry bags to our College Reception.
