St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal

St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal

Many families would be aware that our Term 2 focus is the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Students are learning in class about the work of St Vincent de Paul, both from a historical perspective and how they currently work with issues facing people today. In particular, we explore homelessness with staff and students, learning about the causes and the way St Vincent de Paul responds to this area of growing need. As a way of supporting their work we are asking families to donate non-perishable food items, toiletries and winter clothing (including blankets). Boys can deliver these to their Oratory classrooms each day. The appeal will run until the end of the Term.

Annual Salesian Sleep Out

Another activity that we are hosting to help raise understanding and awareness is the annual Salesian ‘Sleep Out’. Students from Years 7-12 are invited to register for this special event, taking place on Friday 23 June to Saturday 24 June. Students will be privileged to hear from a number of guest speakers, and will spend some part of the evening resting outside with just a sleeping bag and cardboard box. If boys would like to attend, there are still some spots available. Please collect a form from Ms Lexi Tsiavis, out Social Justice Co-Ordinator.
