United Nations Excursion

On the weekend of May 6 and 7, Anthony Basile and I were given the opportunity to practice our debating and public speaking skills by participating in The Model United Nation Assembly (MUNA). MUNA was held in the Legislative Assembly Chamber of the Victorian Parliament House, and was an enriching experience. Each school nominated two students and were assigned a country to research, after which they engaged in a debate with other ‘countries’ about current political, social and environmental issues across the world; such as renewable energy, the Syrian Arab Republic and migration. The whole experience was entertaining and enjoyable, and even though it was serious at times, we were encouraged to have a good laugh and make some new friends.
