Year 10 Art and Identity

In Year 10 Art and Identity, students have been exploring art movements of the 20th Century and the extent to which they continue to influence imagery in today’s world. Students based their work on the Artist Roy Lichtenstein who was a famous POP artist who created iconic works in the 1960’s. Using his style and aesthetics, students sought their own inspiration of POP art, based on contemporary sources such as advertising, celebrities, comics and everyday items. Students developed this into acrylic on canvas paintings. The result is very bright, easily recognisable mass media imagery that reflects the notion that popular culture can be considered Art too!
